Welcome Back!
I hope your child had a great first week back to in person learning! We are so happy to be together again.
As you can imagine, this week was focussed on reviewing, reminding and reteaching the little ones how to stay safe in the school, on the yard, in line-ups and in the hallway. We reviewed rules and routines. We are diligently sanitizing our hands and our desks. We are practicing physical distancing (surfer arms) between us and our friends. We are changing wet masks after recesses and we are reinforcing "no talking" when masks are off during snack and lunch times.
On top of safety routines, this week we focussed on language/math and art groundhog day activities. We talked about kindness and ways to be kind this month. We practiced using manipulatives to act out addition and subtraction problems. We discussed different mental math strategies to help us (using doubles facts, fact families, friendly numbers: 5 and 10, etc.).We reviewed word wall words. We wrote some sentences using our new word wall words. We practiced independent reading and did some reading assessments.
Here are some pictures from this week.
Have a great weekend!
