This week we celebrated kindness. We listened to and read several books about kindness in our class. We talked about what it means to be kind and what we can do at home, school and in our community to show kindness. We also discussed what to do if and when conflicts occur at school and/or with siblings at home. We learned what it means to use our WITS. When in a conflict situation we should try to W - walk away, I - ignore, T - talk it out - tell the person to stop and that you do not like what they are doing and finally S- seek help (if you have tried all the other things with no success - see a teacher or adult and ask for help).
We also had a fun week celebrating 50 days in Grade One! I cannot believe that we have been together for 50 school days already! We wrote 50 words we know. We did 50 second challenges where we had to count how many times we could do an activity in 50 seconds (ie sit to stand, write my name, etc.). We practices counting by 1s, 2s, 5s, and 10s to 50. We also made a 50 Day crown. We had a lot of fun and cannot wait to celebrate our next 50 school days together!
We ended the week with a School colour and School wear spirit day and a dance party celebration for all of our November birthdays.
