Wow! What a great first week of Grade One! I am so proud of how the children are adapting and rising to the challenges of our "new normal".
This week we focussed on adjusting to new safety routines (washroom, lineups, physical distancing, handwashing etc). We discussed Covid and why we had to stay home. We discussed what we are going to do to keep ourselves healthy and safe.
We discussed feelings and emotions. We are doing frequent check-ins to see how the children are feeling and we are using strategies (belly breathing, snake breath, return to center, etc.) to help get us back to "green" our calm and ready to learn place.
We are working on getting to know you activities and we focussed on our individuality, uniqueness and our names. We practised counting, number recognition and started patterning, saying the date, representing numbers, etc. during our calendar activities.
Thank you for helping make your child's return to school a success!
